As I recently found the last update I’ve done to the Super Robot Taisen R translation guide, I’ve taken some time to regain my pace, and restart working on it. I’ll be posting the updates here before I gather them up and send the full thing to GameFAQs.

For those who lost track (I did, anyway), here’s a summary of what happened until now:

Raul/Fiona and the Excellence team are dragged back 5 years into the past after their machine was damaged in combat. They end up joining the Round Knights, an independent alliance forces made by the Gear Headquarters, Freeden and several Super Robot research labs.

The Round Knights, however, must split their forces:

Freeden team reaches Fort Seban, a city claimed to be a shelter for Newtypes. However, they’re welcomed by Calis Nautilus, a Newtype boy who defeats Garrod, and captures Amuro and Tifa. After being interrupted by Gaizock’s attack, Garrod joins Ryoma to try to rescue Tifa.

Meanwhile, Nadesico stays behind at the Gear Headquarters for an operation to bring out all Data Weapons at once. Assaulted by the Jovian Lizards and Galpha, Dendoh and Ogre succeed to collect the Data Weapons, and head out for their ultimate clash. Afterwards, doctor Gou convince them to head to Big Falcon to do some repair job on Voltes.

The full text for stage 17 on both routes is here.

Both GoNintendo and SRW HotNews posted new scans from this week’s Famitsu on the newest entries of SD Gundam G Generation and Super Robot Taisen franchises.

Since its announcement, it was revealed that a gameplay system named Wars Break would play an important factor at G Generation Wars: once a certain condition is met during a scenario, an event that could “turn the tide of war” would happen. This week’s scans reveals us that there are 2 Wars Triggers per scenario, and shows two examples:

  1. At First Gundam’s stage, if you beat Char with Amuro, then the Wars Break would bring in characters from 0080. The screenshot shows Bernie at the enemy side. After the 2nd Wars Trigger is complete, Ginias appears in his Apsalus III.
  2. At Gundam X’s stage, once you beat Olba with Garrod, Witz and Roybea appear in their Gundams to help out. After the 2nd Wars Break, Patrick “Immortal” Colassaur from Gundam 00 appears in his Enact.

Both GoNintendo and SRW HotNews posted new scans from this week’s Famitsu on the newest entries of SD Gundam G Generation and Super Robot Taisen franchises.

A brand new Super Robot Taisen game featuring… a school of Super Robot?
According to Terada’s interview (sorry, quick look at low-res-scan translation), it’s a game based on the idea of a 2 player versus mode that was introduced in Xbox 360′s SRW XO.

Of course, it has a single player mode that features and adventure style gameplay. He promises this game would please fans from traditional SRW games, as well as those who enjoy Adventure+Mecha battle.

The cast list is awesome as it can get, with almost all entries from the latest GBA and DS SRW games (related series grouped together):

  • Mazinkaiser / VS Ankoku Daishogun
  • Shin Getter Armageddon
  • Full Metal Panic / Fumoffu / The Second Raid
  • Gundam W Endless Waltz
  • Gundam SEED ASTRAY / X ASTRAY
  • Nadesico Prince of Darkness
  • Gaogaigar / Gaogaigar FINAL
  • Kotetsushin Jeeg
  • Gundam SEED Destiny / Gundam SEED C.E.73 Stargazer
  • Overman King Gainer
  • Fafner
  • Gaiking Legend of Daiku-Maryu
  • Godannar / Godannar Second Season
  • Dangaioh
  • Gun X Sword
  • Zoids Genesis
  • Virtual-On Mars
  • Com-Battler V
  • Voltes V
  • Golion
  • Dancougar
  • Zeorymer
  • Layzner
  • G Gundam
  • Brain Powerd
  • Detonator Orgun

Surprise, surprise, they left out Gundam SEED and Tekkaman Blade series (both I and II) but inserted Shin Getter Armageddon, which was last seen in SRWD.

Anyway, it feels like they’are experimenting to bring on more players into SRW franchise, first with Endless Frontier, now with an adventure game. Also it’s a game that’s “easy” to produce, considering the obvious recycling of animation. It won’t stop me from playing, though ^_^

It’s been a looong time since I’ve updated this place… Super Robot Taisen K came out, and I just couldn’t play it fully yet >.<

Here’s what I have in mind for this place… This will also serve as a todo list for me, and perhaps motivate me to update more often… Those are not ordered by priority, BTW:

  • Dedicated site for Super Robot Taisen gamesSuper Robot Taisen J and Super Robot Taisen W are fantastic games, that motivated me to do dedicate almost the entire site for them, from news of their release back then, to  summary based walkthroughs. Too bad those never went past the first few stages, and a few character profiles. I want to complete them. I know there are already several fantastic guides out there, but I want to complete them just for the sake of it. And I still have to catch up with K’s release.
  • Sites for SD Gundam G Generation games: just like SRW games, I do like G Generation games as well. Two of them for the DS, G Generation DS and Crossdrive, also had sites for them, but nowhere as dedicated as the SRW ones. I’d like to do better with them, although perhaps only DS deserves it (Crossdrive becomes a bit disappointing towards replay value). And with Wars coming up next for the Wii, I might try to dedicate a space for it as well.
  • Finish and review translation guides: the first time I played a SRW game (SRWA, 2001), I’ve thought “Why not share this story with others who can’t read Japanese?“. Several years later, I could complete a translation guide for it. I learned that translating IS time consuming, and requires good language domain. Still, I’ve learned a lot, and there’s still SRWR’s guide to be completed. I plan to do so, but I still have to figure good ways to do so in my free time without becoming a tedious job.
  • Java programming: as a (mostly) Java programmer, I do google around often to look for solutions for the problems I face at work. So I’d like to post tips and stuff I find related to programming, in hopes of helping out people that end up stumblinging upon the same problem as mine.
  • Mac, iPhone stuff: I’ve been learning about Mac and iPhone recently, so might as well toss in interesting stuff I find about them, as well as iPhone programming stuff.
  • Rayearth: with Geocities closing down, I’ll have to host my (several years) old Rayearth site at another place… Why not here, at the end of all things? This will be done someplace in this month, hopefully, as a homage to all the years that Geocities hosted it. And maybe one day, I can remake it entirely.
  • Draw more: a long time ago I knew how to draw and put together a manga story of my own… I want to bring back this interest, and improve on it. The old site had a gallery with most of my drawings I made back then, so I want to update it more often.
