Xenoblade is an action RPG developed by Monolith Soft and produced by Nintendo. Released at June 10th 2010 at Japan, it received a review score of 36 out of 40 from Famitsu Magazine and was top seller on its first week. Currently, Xenoblade’s release date outside Japan is unconfirmed.
The overworld is huge and player characters can navigate through large areas with great details on grass fields, rivers and waterfalls seamlessly, only having to face a loading screen between the switch of major areas.
The game features an action oriented combat, where ordinary attacks are automatically executed, and partners are AI-controlled. Special attacks can be used as they replenish in a separate “palette”, and the bonds between party members play a major role into defeating giant, stronger opponents.
Player customization is also present, given a large quantity of equipment that can be combined to change the outfit of the character, which is also seen at cut-scenes that play at major story points.
Another highlight of the game is the soundtrack composed by Yoko Shimomura, Yasunori Mitsuda and members of ACE+, which provide great audio experience to the already epic proportions of the game. The pre-order version of the game was shipped with 1 CD of soundtrack samples, while the full soundtrack is composed of 4 CDs, released on July 23rd.
